Everything You Need To Know About Stackable Storage Containers

Storage and transport of items that you use regularly can save a considerable amount of storage space and transport space if they are kept in stackable storage containers. Many storage containers today are manufactured in Euro size which is 600mm x 400mm. These fit snugly on both Euro and UK pallets, as well as wheeled dollies, conveyors, and shelving.

The standard Euro size stackable storage containers fit in five columns on a UK pallet of 1200mm x 1000mm and in four columns on the Euro pallet which is 1200mm x 800mm. Many manufacturers also produce storage containers in a half Euro size of 400mm x 300mm, and it is even possible to get quarter size containers of 300mm x 200mm. In addition, some manufacturers also make containers in a size of 800mm x 600mm.

Euro containers have vertical sides, so they hold more than nesting containers, but of course they do not nest or fold so take up the same amount of space whether full or empty.

Stackable storage containers have many uses across a wide range of industries. Certainly, they are used in the outside catering business for transporting glasses, plates, cutlery, and so on, but as they have smooth sides they are easily cleaned and can be used in the food production trade and for pharmaceuticals. Euro containers are also made in a range of colours which makes identification of the contents very easy. In addition, most manufacturers provide plastic clip-on identification tags as well. It is also possible to emboss them with lettering or numbers, and some manufacturers can actually manufacture them with specific identification or print on them.

Most manufacturers of stackable containers produce inserts or dividers that can compartmentalise the container in a number of different ways. Obviously, this will vary by industry and the products being manufactured, distributed, or transported.

Stackable containers can also be found with ventilated sides. These can be useful for certain industries, especially the food industry, because they allow airflow in fridges and freezers which lets the food reach the desired temperature faster. Many stackable containers can also have lids supplied as an optional extra.
